Preparation for POP Users

Non-Outlook Users

The following documentation has been developed and tested specifically for Outlook; however, this information is broadly applicable to all email applications.

Keep Your Email on the Server

For POP users, emails are stored on the local device and removed from the server. However, this behavior can be disabled through your email application's settings, allowing the emails to remain on the server and be migrated.

Please note, this only applies to emails received after the setting has been updated.

  1. Open Outlook and go to the File tab.
  2. Click Account Settings, then click Account Name and Sync Settings from the dropdown.
  3. In the POP Account Settings window, update your settings to match:
    • Leave a copy of messages on the server: Checked
    • Remove from server after X days: Unchecked
  4. Click Next.
  5. Click Done.

Manually Migrate Your Email

Your POP export/back up must be migrated if you wish for the contents to be accessible and synced through Microsoft.
